La Salle Institute dual-sport athlete joined CSMN podcast The Section 2 Show on episode 4 to discuss more on his decision to transfer to La Salle, make basketball his top sports, and where he might take his talents to next.
Catherwood transferred from Tamarac to La Salle in his junior year. “I felt like I wanted to dominate at a higher level,” said Catherwood. To achieve his athletic goals, Catherwood decided he had a better opportunity to do so with the Cadets.

Catherwood had nothing but great things to say about Tamarac High School and the culture Tamarac stands for. “Great community, great sports teams, great athletics over there.”
Catherwood has been busy during his high school career. As a freshman at Tamarac Catherwood was a starter on varsity for both basketball and football teams, making an impact on both.
Basketball becoming his priority sport didn’t happen till high school, but Catherwood manages his time very well to sustain success in playing both. Catherwood and La Salle basketball finished their season off in a tough loss against Albany Academy 79-73. The Cadets still finished the season at 11-2.
Catherwood’s three-point shooting ability is the most talked about part of his game style. However, Catherwood’s intensity, strength, and speed allow him to have success in other areas and on the football field. “People know me for my outside shooting. When your able to do something other than what your known for, it can catch people off guard.”
Catherwood spent a lot of the offseason working on his driving ability and he credited the physicality in football to his success in the paint.
La Salle’s varsity basketball team was stacked, to say the least, this season.“I’ve never been on a team like this before,” said Catherwood. When asked about whom he enjoys competing against the most in Section 2, he responded with; his teammates. “This is the best team I’ve ever played with and against.”
Without sectionals this year, the Cadets are forced to settle with a very good record in a very good conference (Colonial Council). When asked what was next for him and his future basketball career, Catherwood mentioned a few options he has in mind. The chance of commitment to a college basketball, or taking the prep school route after a chaotic season for many.
