Starting out as a freshman for CBA’s varsity soccer, Jordan Proulx has seen himself and his squad improve dramatically through 4 years. Turning into a Suburban Council powerhouse, Proulx could not be more proud about how his career at CBA went.
Ever since the age of three, Proulx has been playing the game he loves, soccer. Starting out playing for Rotterdam rec, making the jump to travel soccer at the age of 9. Proulx currently play’s for Black Watch and his journey there was not a traditional one. For his old travel team, the owner of the club received a job at Redbull, so he had to shut down the club. He referred his players to Steve Freeman and Blackwatch, and it was one of the best things that could have happened to Proulx.
Proulx’s dominant play has not gone unnoticed. Being named a First Team All-Star in 2020 and Third Team All-Star as a junior. He was also the MVP runner-up in 2020. When asked about what allows himself to play at such a high level, Proulx responded with, “I’ve always put 100% effort into anything I do, and if I’m not as good as you or not as fast as you, I know that my heart is gonna push me past where you are.” Pushing himself to not take any reps off and make sure that everything he does is to the best of his ability, Proulx has made himself a dominant player.
Many athletes have an influencer that helps shape their game and take it to the next level. For Proulx that would be his coach Steve Freeman. “He is the best coach I have ever come across in my life, he teaches you everything you need to know, he expects the best and doesn’t accept anything less.” Proulx has been working with Freeman ever since he started playing Black watch around the age of 11. Constantly working him to improve his game and become the best player he could be.
Looking forward to next year, Proulx will be attending Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY. He will be playing soccer there, but he told me the main reason he will be attending Le Moyne was because of their outstanding business program.”My mom was actually really excited that the business program at Le Moyne is top tier, so I’m going to Le Moyne to play soccer, but mainly because I’m going to get a great job coming out of it.”
As previously mentioned, Proulx has an incredible work ethic, which works just not on the soccer field but also in the real world. I have no doubt in my mind that Proulx will continue to strive in the athletic and academic world.
