In a big game for both teams, Greenwich and Stillwater both impressed in big situations.
The game started off on Greenwich’s side as they got off to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. It started with a 7-yard scoring rush from sophomore running back Matthew Conlin. Conlin ended the game with 130 rushing yards and one touchdown.
The Witches scored again after recovering a botched kickoff from Stillwater. Greenwich quarterback Jessie Kuzmich rushed for 36 yards for a touchdown. Kuzmich ended with 111 Rushing Yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Stillwater broke through and scored at the beginning of the second quarter after CJ McNeil made a one-handed catch on the sideline, managing to stay in bounds. A few plays later McNeil rushed for three yards and got into the endzone for the Warriors.
McNeil led the Warriors in rushing (47), receiving (51), and special teams (117). He also had all three Warriors touchdowns.
Just before the end of the first half, both teams traded touchdowns as Kuzmich threw a 55 yard dime to Tyler Day. Kuzmich also had 65 passing yards and one passing touchdown.
Then McNeil caught his one touchdown of the night. The teams went into the half 21-12 with Greenwich in the lead.
To start the second half Stillwater marched down and scored on a CJ McNeil Rush. Stillwater then got the ball back, and down by two, quickly turned the ball over in Greenwich’s endzone.
The ball went back and forth the rest of the 3rd Quarter as nobody scored until the 4th. Greenwich scored the last points of the game with 10:46 left in the 4th.
Both teams had missed opportunities and big penalties in the last 10 minutes of the game. The game ended with Greenwich winning 27-19.
