Hi, my name is Owen Brown, and I am so excited to officially join Capital Sports Media Network. My hope for the future is that our brand will continue to grow into a company not just known throughout the Capital Region, but also the entire country. With the great team of editors, reporters, podcasters, and sports enthusiasts, I believe that we will be able to achieve this goal, sooner than we think.
My current role here is to serve as a Section 2 reporter. Being from Newtown, Connecticut, I am still trying to learn more about the Capital Region, along with its schools and athletic programs. With that being said, I do bring experience to the table within the broadcasting and journalism field. I got to serve as both the cameraman and play-by-play announcer for the boys and girls basketball teams at Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury, Connecticut, and formally served as the assistant sports editor for my high school’s newspaper, the Chief Advocate.
My main goal as a Section 2 reporter is to give you guys the best content around when it comes to high school sports. I want to be able to give our local athletes the recognition they deserve for all of their time, dedication, and devotion to what they do for their sport and community with each spotlight I do. Being a huge football, basketball, and baseball fan, I also hope with more experience, I will get the opportunity to start covering sports at the college and professional levels, whether that be in the article and/or podcast form.
With all that said, I am very excited to begin pursuing a sports broadcasting and journalism career here at CSMN! I am always trying to learn new information and improve each day as a reporter and a writer, so I am always open to constructive criticism and suggestions. I am so excited to get started on this journey and look forward to providing the great people of the Capital Region and of our country the content they deserve!
