
It was a breezy Friday night in Greenwich when two unbeaten teams hit the field. Greenwich was the one to come out alive as they move to 5-0 with a 36-20 “W” over the now 5-1 Burghers.
Senior quarterback Jessie Kuzmich, and Sophomore running back Matthew Conlin led the Witches to victory. Kuzmich had 65 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, he also had 110 passing yards with one touchdown throw. Conlin had 96 rushing yards on 17 carries with one touchdown.
The Burghers were led by Tristen Hitchcock who had 91 rushing yards. The Burghers were a very physical team and will have to put up another strong showing next week against Stillwater. Stillwater is 4-1 with their lone loss coming to Greenwich.
“We knew going into the season that Class D is going to be one of the toughest in Section Two this year and that’s what it is playing out to be so far.” Said Warrensburg coach on how the playoffs are looking this year.
Greenwich will travel to Lake George to take on the Warriors next week. Lake George stands at 4-2 with a Covid forfeit.
“They have great speed and speed helps you beat anyone.” Says Greenwich head coach about next week’s opponent.
Greenwich looks to clinch the division in the next two weeks in class D. While Warrensburg is just playing for a playoff spot.
