On a wet Friday night at La Salle, the Warriors from Averill Park took home the 21-20 win in overtime with a little controversy at the end.
Both teams got it kicked off and scored a touchdown in the first quarter and were tied 7-7 after one. La Salle scored first then Averill Park scored right before the end of the quarter.
La Salle quarterback Eddie Yamin extended the first La Salle drive on a long run and they finished it off with a four-yard rushing touchdown from JJ Thompson.
Gavin Giordano and Averill Park are normally a run-first offense. But against the Cadets, Giordano threw for all three touchdowns. The first score was to Jake Rizzo on a third down.

The Warriors and Cadets were quiet for most of the second quarter until Giordano connected with Nicholas Galuski from 34 yards out. Right after that as everyone thought it was going to be halftime, Thompson returned the kick 84 yards for a touchdown to tie the game going into the half for La Salle.

Neither team scored in the third quarter or the fourth, as time started ticking away it looked like Averill Park was going to win in regulation but as penalties forced them back they got stuck.
Then, with 2:42 left they went into a weather delay. For 45 minutes people were sitting in their cars waiting for the game to start back up. And it did.
Averill Park had the ball on third down and ended up punting it away. La Salle got into a good position and shot themselves in the foot with penalties. The game went into overtime tied 14-14
La Salle started with the ball and scored in a couple of plays. On a rush from Thompson from a couple yards out the Cadets took the lead 20-14 and off of a dropped snap from the holder they didn’t get the extra point.
Averill Park then got the ball on the 20 and Giordano connected with Nicholas Galuski from 18 yards out to tie the game up. Averill Park then hit a controversial extra point to win the game. As all the Warrior players rushed the field into a circle and celebrated.
