The Averill Park Warriors brought plenty of energy and enthusiasm to the field with them in a 2-1 victory against Scotia-Glenville Saturday afternoon.
Although Averill Park won by one goal, they dominated possession almost all game long, putting constant pressure on the Tartan’s defense. They were only able to score twice out of many good chances, but it was enough to advance to the semi-final round.

Anytime you began to think Scotia would strike, the Warriors defense dominated with forced turnovers.
Four teams remain in the Class A Boys Sectional; #1 La Salle, #4 Queensbury, #7 Albany Academy, and #2 Averill Park.
Both goals were scored in the first half. One from Carter Morse and the second from Carter Dee, assisted by Morse.

3 seed Averill Park will now play 7 seed Albany Academy Tuesday at 5:00 pm, at neutral site Mohonasen High School for a chance to play in the Section 2 Class A championship. 1 seed La Salle will play 4 seed Queensbury Tuesday at 7:00 pm at Mohonasen High School also.
Scotia’s defense played with much more energy in the second half, keeping the Warriors scoreless in the second half.

If Warriors begin to capitalize on a few more of their many chances, don’t be surprised to see them make a run for the Class A trophy.
