
On a cold Friday night at Shaker, Shenendehowa was able to outlast Shaker in an intense defensive battle 17-14.
Both teams got out to slow starts offensively, as the colder temperatures seemed to play a part in both teams abilities to move the ball down the field. Each team had a turnover of their own in the 1st quarter.
Shenendehowa opened up the scoring when they were able to punch the ball in after driving the ball down to the 2-yard line. Shaker quickly answered with a with a touchdown of their own the next drive.
Both offenses stayed quiet until Shenendehowa kicked a field goal as the first half ended and took a 10-7 lead into halftime.
Shaker started the second half driving all the way into Shen’s territory, taking most of the 3rd quarter game clock with them, that ended on a fumble leading to another Shenendehowa score which brought their lead up to 10.
Shenendehowa’s defense was able to hold Shaker off as the game came down to the final play where Shaker was unable to convert on 4th down.
Shenendehowa completed the upset and held off Shaker 17-14. The late defensive stop secured Shenendehowa a trip to the Class AA championship this coming friday at 7 as they take on CBA after taking down Guilderland
