
On Saturday afternoon, Greenwich advanced to the Class D championship in an impressive 48-20 win over Chatham.
Greenwich (8-0) will look to finish out their Section 2 season with a perfect record and a trophy in their hands.
Greenwich will play for the Class D championship against Stillwater this Saturday at Schuylerville High School starting at 1. Stillwater (8-1) defeated Warnesburg 31-12 in their semi-final matchup.
Greenwich got it going early, going up 14-0 in the 1st quarter, then scoring on the first play of the 2nd quarter to make it 21-0.
Midway through the 2nd quarter, Chatham’s QB pulled off for a 20-yard run to get them on the board and make it 21-6.
After Greenwich punched another touchdown in, and turnovers on three possessions in a row Greenwich would go into halftime leading Chatham 28-6.
Greenwich would receive the ball to start the 2nd half and on the first possession of the half Greenwich would break off for a 74-yard touchdown run but miss the XP to make it a 34-6 lead.
Soon after, Chatham would score a touchdown of their own and successfully try for 2 to cut the lead to 34-14. But just minutes later, Greenwich would score once again this time hitting the XP to make it a 41-14 game.
In the 4th quarter, each team added on another touchdown of their own and Greenwich would go on to win the game 48-20.
