On a very wet day in Schuylerville, 9-0 Greenwich prevails to move to 10-0 and win the Class D Super Bowl. Greenwich defeated Stillwater 31-7.
If you haven’t watched a Greenwich game yet you should, you can tell what kind of team they are when they start warmups. They take every game like it’s just another business trip. They have an explosive offense and it showed vs Stillwater.
Led by senior quarterback Jessie Kuzmich and sophomore running back Matthew Conlin, Greenwich’s offense produced 364 yards total.
Greenwich got things kicked off with a touchdown on their first drive of the game. When Stillwater got it they had to punt after 3 plays but got it right back on an interception.
On fourth and five on the Greenwich 16, Stillwater Sophmore Jaxson Mueller made a great catch to put the Warriors at the two-yard line. The very next play they punched it in to tie things up at 7.
That’s when the Witches shut things down and started running the ball. Conlin had 174 yards on 20 carries. Conlin rushed for a 10-yard touchdown to respond to Stillwater’s score. Just like that is was 14-7 after the first quarter.
Greenwich then scored on a quarterback keeper from 45 yards out to put them up 21-7.
Stillwater made some great stops to keep them in the game at the half but their offense couldn’t convert on much.
After the half Greenwich’s Declan Kelleher hit a 30-yard field goal in the pouring rain to go up 24-7. After a 30-minute lightning delay right after the start of the fourth quarter Conlin rushed for 15 yards with one cleat on to officially put the game out of reach at 31-7.
Greenwich plays next Friday at 7 pm vs Tuckahoe at Mechanicville.
Great season from Stillwater and congratulations to the seniors, Stillwater ends the year with a record of 8-2 with both losses coming to the Witches. We appreciate everything Stillwater did for us this year. They are a great program with a bright future.
