Greenwich had a season that you haven’t seen in a while. It may not have ended in a win, but it was still great. They lost 28-14 to Moriah Friday to end the season.
They dominated everyone they played and wore down every opponent. Greenwich won the Section Two championship over Stillwater 31-7.
The closest game they had was the second game of the season and they won by eight. The Witches amassed an amazing 518 points over the 12 games and only let up 130 all year.
Their season included wins over Cohoes (54-0), Stillwater (27-19) and (31-7), Cambridge/Salem (49-0), Helderberg Valley (56-0), Warrensburg (36-20), Lake George (71-16), Granville (forfeit) (41-0), Chatham (48-20), Tuckahoe (41-20). Their lone loss was to Moriah (28-14) in the state semifinals.
Greenwich ended the season 11-1, and this group of players went 17-1 over the past two years. Not many teams can say they won 17 games in a row in two years. To be that consistent in a great league is amazing.
