After a big upset by Schuylerville, Cohoes’ season comes to an end at Saratoga High School Saturday night. The Tigers entered this game with only one loss, Schuylerville handing them their second, 55-50.
Royal Brown once again led the Tigers with 34 points for the night and Lucas Sherman secured the win for Schuylerville with 23 total points. “Our guys compete really hard,” said Sherman’s brother Owen Sherman, “They played their hearts out.”

The game began close at the end of the first quarter with the lead only being by four. Both teams took on a slower second quarter, with Cohoes scoring seven and Schuylerville scoring five. The halftime score was 22-20, Schuylerville. The close game and high expectations made the Tigers feel the pressure all game.
Schuylerville got out to a quick start in the second half, scoring 21 points in the third quarter and leaving Cohoes trailing by 12. What cost them the game ultimately was the fouls they dished out, with over ten total fouls for the second half. On-point shooters such as Ryan Dow kept the Black Horses in the lead, totaling six completed free-throws in the fourth quarter alone.

No player on Cohoes scored more than four points besides Brown. Schuylerville’s head coach Matt Steinfort admitted that part of the plan was to make Brown do it all, and lock down the other players on the team.

The Black Horses will continue their post-season journey this upcoming Wednesday in Glens Falls against Ichabod Crane at 5:00 pm.
