At week four of the boy’s Ballers Paradise top 50 event, Javoy Thompson ‘23 was the Standout Player of the Day. The 6’7” junior guard attends Redemption Christian Academy in Troy. Thompson is from the Bronx, NY and his dream is to play college basketball and eventually go pro.
Thompson’s defense efforts and mid-range ability stood out the most in this week’s event. Thompson went on a hot streak scoring five times in a row while also coming up with two blocks in that stretch. He’s a very physical player on the defensive side of the ball and credits his childhood football instincts for that.
Ballers Paradise is an invite-only exposure event that is showcasing the Capital Regions’ elite boys and girls basketball players [ages 14-18]. The much-anticipated event is taking place again Friday, April 1, 6-7 pm for girls, 7-8 pm for boys at Gateway Sports in Cohoes, NY.

The two-hour experience includes skills, drills, 5×5 runs, and interviews. The action will be captured by some of the area’s premier videographers, edited, and published on various social media platforms giving the athletes priceless exposure.
This kid has great potential. I went to see him a few times, ppl over look him but remember I said it first, he’s the next thing. He needs to be better on defense and more aggressive with scoring but watch it’s coming
In these last few showcases, he hasn’t been afraid to score the ball. And has been stepping it up a notch on the defensive end. If he works hard enough, he can guard all positions with his height and athleticism.
